A free, secular, twelve-year classical curriculum in the Charlotte Mason tradition. It covers history, literature, science, the Bible, and the arts, term by term, week by week, using living books rather than textbooks.
Nothing. Stone and Stream is free to use, print, and share for personal use. If it has been valuable to your family, a contribution on Gumroad is welcome, but it is never required.
No. Stone and Stream covers everything except mathematics and foreign languages. The Guide recommends specific programs for both, so you can pair them with your year's schedule.
Read The Guide first. It lays out the philosophy, the shape of a school day, and how to use the Planners. Then find your child's year in Schedules & Planners.
Years are numbered by grade rather than age, so Year 1 is roughly first grade, Year 9 is roughly ninth grade, and so on. The Guide's "Getting Started" section covers placement for children joining midway through, or for multiple children of different ages.
Many are free, public-domain texts. The Booklist marks which titles are free to read online and which need to be purchased or borrowed.
Stone and Stream is secular. Bible readings appear as part of a classical education's literary and historical foundation, not as devotional instruction, and families are free to supplement with their own religious formation alongside it.
Yes. The Guide includes a full section on translating the upper years into course names and credits, plus a sample transcript and a blank transcript template you can fill in yourself.
